Logan: 5.19.23 I Got Some Cool Pictures

Que pasa calibasa! What is going on yall? I may be in mexico, but that just means I'm way down south, so the drawl still stands. Also, get ready for a lot of typos, because I'm on the bus going to the temple right now, so it's gonna be rough. Again, as usual, I have way less time than I thought I would, so it's gonna be a short one.

Friday we spent most of our time in the Spanish help desk, which is where all of the really good lessons for Spanish are. I love my classes, but they have a primary focus on the gospel. It's kinda dumb. I go on a mission to teach the gospel, and they stick me in classes to learn the gospel? Ludicrous if you ask me. Anywho, the Spanish help desk is entirely Spanish grammar lessons, so my spanish shot up a couple levels. It's still kinda garbage, so don't ask me about it. After we had a lesson in spanish with Elder Pomares, and I whipped out one of my spanish memorizations, and it worked perfectly. I'm not saying anything, but I'm the boss.

Saturday, from what I can tell from my journal, was really average. We went to this building in the MTC, and they had giant murals of the parting of the red sea. It was the coolest thing I've seen in a while. I got some really awesome pictures of it, so you'll see it at the end of the email.

Sunday was cool.

Monday was sick

Tes

Wednesday we got that bread. Literally fire
Actually tho, Sunday we had sacrament, and it was the first time I blessed the sacrament in spanish, so that was cool. But what was really awesome was priesthood meeting. In that we found out that our Branch President, who is a convert, used to be a socialist, communist, and marcsist (no idea if I spelled that right). What he loved more than that, however, was reading. So one day, some missionaries shared with him the book of Mormon, and challenged him to read it. They had tried to get him to be baptized, but he declined. He had started to read the Book of Mormon, but stopped at 1 Nephi 6, because it mentioned Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Knowing that they were from the Bible, he set down the BoM and opened the Bible. It took him six months, but he finished the Bible, and restarted the book of Mormon. This time, he made it to chapter 8 of 1 Nephi, and he said that by the first couple of verses, he was in tears. He said that every question he had about life: who are we? Where are we from? Where are we going? Every single question he had about life was answered through the BoM. He knew from that day that this was God's church, and that the Book of Mormon was the word of God.

Monday was really average. Just food, class, food, gym, class, food, and then sleep.

Tuesday was awesome. In the morning our teacher disappeared for about 30 minutes, and it was a great test to see how well we would cope with the lack of authority (hint: we did not do well). Afternoon class was also interesting. One of our teachers had a role playing conversation with me, and for 5 minutes straight I listened to just spanish. What was cool about this is that I wasn't translating what I was hearing into English, I was just understanding. I also gave the closing prayer for the MTC devotional in spanish, and I was so nervous before hand that my legs were shaking

Two notable things for Wednesday. The first is that our teacher, Hermano Campos, gave his testimony. Again, it was one of the most powerful conversion stories, but you guys already heard one for this week, so too bad. The other thing was that we welcomed another district, and they were all Latinos. So it was another 2 hour presentation in just spanish. This time it went way better than last week. We also got new zone leaders, so this week I'm being released on Sunday.

Thursday was cool. During the MTC meeting for Zone leaders President Allred put me in a headlock, but it was to demonstrate a point, so it was fine. We also played a prank on Elder Pomares. We got all the Americans, plus one Canadian, to stand up spontaneously during house devo and start reciting the Pledge of Alligence. It was so funny because Elder Pomares had no idea what was going on. Also, it turns out that we have been using just fabric softener for the past 3 weeks to wash our clothes. So we got some detergent (we checked this time) and have been cranking out laundry for the past few days.

Anywho, that's all for now. I'll see yall next week!!

Elder Evans
(P.S. I don't know I'd I'll ever continue that story of mine, but we'll see)
