Seth: 08.11.21 - The Life of a Missionary

Hey yalls! I hope everything is going well as usual! This day marks the 3 countdown for my birthday! As most of you know I have the coolest birthday of all time 11/11!! So there is that. This week was pretty decent. As always we got destroyed. But this is the life of a missionary. We go out for hours on end talking to random people and get shut down for hours. Sometimes really cool things happen and other times nothing happens. Because of the area we are in we also get rather... Interesting people. For instance today we were biking next to a bus stop and this homeless lady just starts ranting to us for 10 minutes straight about who knows what. And she didnt pause for a second! As soon as she stopped, probably to breathe, we said "nice talking to yah, gotta go!"

In Sacrament meeting today, Lazarus got up and spoke to us. Turns out this man was visiting from south Carolina and decided to join a church service. He gets up and bears his testimony. He shares with us that he was in a coma for 2-3 weeks and everyone thought that he was dead. They were going to pull the plug on him on day 4. But there is a god and miracles do happen so he woke up weeks later. Who would of thunk? He startd out his address to us by saying, "i should be dead..." Crazy
Nothing out of the ordinary has happened this week. We have a few people progressing very well towards the gates of baptism and others that aren't. But what can we do besides pray and invite?
I am sorry for a shorter email this week and not many interesting pictures. I will repent and recommit to better picture taking and better emails. But this week is going to be a snoozer
I want to leave yall with a thought that I has been rattling around my noggin for quite some time. We have had a ton of people ask us as missionaries. We as missionaries promise lasting happiness in this life and in the life to come. Others counter our message with the fact that they can be happy in this life without following the commandments of god. This took to some scriptures in the book of mormon. They say
2 nephi 2 27"Wherefore, men are free according to the flesh; and all things are given them which are expedient unto man. And they are free to choose liberty and eternal life, through the great Mediator of all men, or to choose captivity and death, according to the captivity and power of the devil; for he seeketh that all men might be miserable like unto himself."
 And
Alma 41 10 "Do not suppose, because it has been spoken concerning restoration, that ye shall be restored from sin to happiness. Behold, I say unto you, wickedness never was happiness"
People who choose to not follow god in this life confuse happiness with fun/temporary pleasure. If you fill your your life with God and choose to follow him, he will bless you in this life and reward you greatly in the life to come. I invite yall to read the book of mormon every day and I promise God will bless you for your efforts! I love yall and see you next week!
